Episode : The whispers of Pedro Páramo

Raúl Yañez 407 - B Pedro Páramo is the first and only novel by the mexican writer Juan Rulfo, his other book would be the collection of short stories “El llano en llamas”. However, with this book he revolutionized 20th century Hispanic literature. Pedro Páramo is amazing in its construction where reality and unreality, space and time mix, and where the place where it develops, Comala, is as important as the character that gives title to the book. A must-see novel from the Latin American boom and from the subgenre called magical realism.

Episode : The Red Queen

Hey there, It’s Evelyn Soriano from 407B. Hello guys! Welcome to my podcast, today I'm going to talk about this book that I read a month ago, ok, I'm very excited cause is one of the best books I have ever read, and while I was reading it, I was like- OMG THIS BOOK SHOULD BE IN THE SHELFS OF EVERY FANTASY STORY LOVERS. It is called "The Red Queen" It was written by Victoria Aveyard and published on February 10, 2015, it is the first part of a saga of 6 books, and in my opinion, the best. The story is narrated by Mare, a girl who steals things to survive in the poverty, she shows us her world, which is a society divided by the color of the blood to understand more, in the first side are like the common people who have red blood; and in the other we have those who possess silver blood and have supernatural abilities, they are like superheros but super cocky and they part of the high society I forgot to say that the protagonist is obviously red-blooded and for reasons of destiny, one day, she is taken to court for her crimes and that is where she shows to have special powers, which are unusual to be a red-blooded, and, to avoid spoilers, there is where all the action begins. I confess that before reading it I wasn't interested in that kind of books, but it completely blew my mind, beginning with the gorgeous cover, to the way it is narrated, the unexpected plot twists and how the characters desenvolve in the storie, it totally takes you to another world, it exceeded my expectations and I totally fell in love with it. I highly recommend it for the ones who like fantasy stories, or the ones who are starting with this genre. Finally I hope you give an opportunity to it, you will not regret it, see you soon!

Episode : The Mysterious Island

Sebastian Ibarra 407-B Hello, I am Sebastian Ibarra and I will talk about the book The Mysterious Island, a book that I personally like a lot. So let's get started. The book was written by Jules Verne. Jules Verne is considered the founder of modern science fiction literature. He predicted the appearance of different inventions such as television, the helicopter and the submarine. The books written by Jules Verne are famous everywhere, with many works such as "Journey to the center of the Earth", "From the Earth to the Moon" and "five weeks in a balloon", the last one mentioned was the one that launched him to Fame. Unfortunately this great character died in 1905. But let's talk now about the book, about how a group of people manages to survive on an island, without communication, without food, without transportation, totally alone. The way in which they can continue to survive is by gathering everyone's knowledge, discovering the areas that the island has for them. It is a book that no matter how many pages it has, it will always entertain you with funny, confusing and epic moments. And something that is incredible is that different books are interconnected with this one, creating a story that you can extend when reading other books. You may find parts of the book that are explained with a lot of math, but you still get to understand the main point. But why you should read this book, it is not difficult to answer, this book keep you in alert all the time, because at any moment something can happen, it is totally unpredictable, things happen that you never expect. It has a lot of cience and very good explication of everything. And if you like fiction and mystery books, this is for you. Thank you very much for your attention. Have a nice day.

Episode : 13 Reasons Why

Paula Bernardo and Sharon Castillo 403-B 13 reasons why, it's a book written by Jay Asher, he’s an american writer, this book was one of the most successful that he wrote, most of his books are for teenagers. This book was published in February 2009, and in 2017 Netflix adapted the book into a series. The plot is about Clay Jensen, a 17-year-old teenager who one day receives a package outside his house with cassettes, there are 13 recordings that were recorded by Hannah Baker, se committed suicide two weeks before Clay received the package, those cassettes reveal the 13 reasons for Hannah's decision to commit suicide, and the people who get that package means they were one of the reasons. Clay has no idea what he could have done to be on that list, little by little when he’s playing the audios he discovers the secrets of his classmates. I liked that the book was narrated by both, since every time the cassettes were played the narrator of the story was Hannah and we could know well her point of view, and at the end of each recording we can know the thoughts of Clay. Although I think Hannah gave too much importance to those people, letting them manipulate her life, she could has talked with someone about her feelings because it's too necessary talk about the things that is happening to us, and maybe someone cold has helped her and no holding 13 people responsible for taking the decision she took, with this, I would like to tell you, You are not alone, always you can find a personas that helps you. In conclusion I liked the book, but I didn’t like her 13 reasons, because to be honest some were very silly.

Episode : The Little Prince

Cami Moncayo, 403-B. The Little Prince, French Le Petit Prince, is a modern classic fable by the French writer Antonie de Saint- Expuréy (born on June 29 in 1900 and died on July 31 in 1944). He was an aviator and a writer. He came from an improvised aristocratic family. In 1922 he qualified as a military pilot. In 1939, despite permanent disabilities due to serious flying accidents, he became a military reconnaissance pilot. In 1944 he took off from an airfield in Corsica to conduct a reconnaissance mission over France and never returned. Sixty years later, parts of his plane were raised from the ocean near Marseille . It had probably been shot down by an enemy fighter, though the cause of the crash may never be known. The narrator introduces himself as a man who learned when he was a child that adults lack imagination and understanding. The narrator is a pilot who has crash-landed in a desert. When this happens he meets a very young boy who asks him for a drawing of a sheep. The pilot learns a lot of things about this boy (the little prince). He learns things like the little prince comes from the very small asteroide B-612 and struggles with the love that he has for his rose. He also learns that this prince has traveled to a lot of other asteroides. Then the pilot tell us the adventures of the Prince on Earth. Saint-Exupery came to the United States in 1940, after France was occupied by Germany in World War II. At this time his personal life was marked by anxiety and the weight of war, the aviator created a book that reveals the defects of adults from the eyes of a child. This was the reason why the author wrote the story. Some curious facts about this book are that: 1."The Little Mermaid" may have inspired Saint-Exupéry to write The Little Prince. 2.The wife of the author, consuelo, inspired the Prince’s Rose. 3.The author both wrote and illustrated The Little Prince. 4.One of the main characters is never actually shown to the reader. The drawings of the pilot were added later. 5.The Little Prince has been translated into over 250 languages. I think that this is a book that teenagers and adults can enjoy because it has a very deep meaning in every part of the story that makes you reflect a lot about life and how are you living it. Not for anything this is one of the most known books. Everyone knows who the little prince is.

Episode : The Grimm Legacy

Script and voice by: Antony M.O., 403-B. Podcast about “The Grimm Legacy” book. Hi everyone and welcome to Aztro-Radio. Today we will talk about a book named “The Grimm Legacy” written by Polly Shulman. Polly Shulman is a North-American writer who currently lives in New York City with her husband. She was born in that same city, and since she can remember, she always has loved the books and its incredible stories, and she always had the same dream: Write stories to people like her. She has worked in too many important newspapers and journals like The New York Times, for example. Okay, but going back to the book, this is a book of fantasy mainly, but if you read it you going to discover that it is much more complex than it . This book could be the best mix of fantasy, love, action and mystery. It presents us a hidden magical world surviving in an ordinary society, and the magical objects are protected by the few who know of their existence. An interesting fact about the creation of this book is that the beginning of the story is based on an important moment in Polly´s life, when one of her teachers offered her a job after school in a library. This book starts with our protagonist Elizabeth Rew, a normal student of high school in New York City. She always had had a kind of connection with the Grimm brothers stories thanks to her mother, who died when she was a child. And ironically, she has a stepmother just like in this kind of tale. The point is, she is a normal girl, since she made a project for her school about the Grimm brothers stories, and this makes her teacher of history recommend her for a job in the New York Circulating Material Repository. First she was excited about her new job especially when she discovers that the objects that inspired the stories of the Grimm brother are kept in that place, but with the time she will realize this isn´t a normal job, and will inadvertently be involved in a really dangerous adventure for better and for worse, winning some things, but lose others. This is the first book of a serie of books, but this series only shows us this magic world and only this magic world because there are different characters in each one of the books with different stories and situations within this world. We really recommended this book and this serie in general, we hope you enjoy it like us.

Episode : Das Parfum

Sofía Castro, 403-B. Do you know who Patrick Suskind is ? He is a writer and screenwriter, He was born on March 26, 1949 in Germany. He wrote several books, however today I am going to talk about the most famous of them. Das Parfum. The story of a Murderer. Jean Baptiste Grenouille, our main character, was a strange boy. After he was born, he was taken to an orphanage The women in charge of his care mentioned that something was wrong with the little one, he had no smell and that terrified them To get rid of the boy, they decided to give it to a leather tanner. He began to discover the great skill that he had with smell and memorizing smells. He had a dream of one day being a famous perfumer and when he had the opportunity to meet Guiseppe Baldini (a successful perfumer) he did not hesitate to show him his wonderful power with smell. it is here that his first victim appears, a young redhead, her smell caught him completely and wishing to have it alone for him, Grenouille strangled her. Baldini taking advantage of Grenouille, allows him to be his assistant. That's how the perfumer starts to make a lot of money. Grenouille began to notice his intentions, decided to leave and resigned. A possible inspiration for this book was the life of Manuel Romasanta, a murderer from Spain who killed children and women. He’d take their sebum out and make soaps with it, selling it in Portugal Did you even know this story? It is a totally different book, it has a plot that from the beginning takes the reader in an atmosphere of mystery and curiosity about history. Personally, a very complete and fantastic book.

Episode : Harry Potter and the goblet of fire

Ximena Colin and Gala Plata, 403-B. The author of this book is named J.K. Rowling, She's from Yate of United Kingdom. This book was written in 8 of July of 2000 This is the fourth book of the saga of Harry Potter, she wrote this book as the continuation of the third book named The prisoner of Azkaban. This saga has a fantasy genre. In this book, the principal characters are of course Harry Potter, Cedric Diggory,a Mad Eye Moody, and Voldemort. The story starts to unfold when the other Academies of Magic appear at Hogwarts, they were in there because of The triwizard tournament. The three wizards who wanted to participate in this tournament have to be chosen by a Goblet of fire, but only the wizards aged 17 or more can participate. The problem here is that Harry Potter was selected even having 14, but that’s not everything, he didn't know who put his name at The Goblet of fire. My experience reading this book was awesome, because when you start reading it, you don't understand what is happening in the first chapter, but when you read the rest of the chapters you can't stop. You can imagine the yule ball, the tests, the fights and everything. I really recommend this book.

Episode : The Higgs Boson won’t make your bed

Axel Razo 403-B. Hello there, my name is Axel, and I am very excited to talk about the book: "the Higgs boson won't make your bed". This book was written by Javier Santaolalla, a Spanish physical, engineer and influencer, who had worked in the CERN, also known as the European Organization for Nuclear Research for its acronym in French, and he helped for the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. More recently he became a youtuber who talk about science, specifically about physics. About the book it was published in 2016, while his fame was growing at YouTube and his presentations with his group “Big Van” were popularizing. The book isn’t a narrative story, it is a funny explain of science describe as a trip with famous characters like Pikachu or Darth Vader. Finally, I like it because it is a different view of physics and it makes very interesting the science specially for people who aren’t too much interested.

Episode : The Little Prince

Alejandra Rea Rodriguez 403-B. “The Little Prince” written by Antoine De Saint-Exupéry and published on April 6, 1943 in France. The book is a poetic tale that is accompanied by drawings made by the author; in it, a pilot finds himself lost in the Sahara desert after his plane crashed, but to his surprise, it is there that he meets a little prince from another planet. The story has a philosophical theme, which includes social criticism directed at the strangeness with which adults see things. These criticisms of the important things and the world of adults appear in the book throughout the narrative. It is considered a children's book because of the way it was written, but this is a story in which, in an allegorical way, it expounded part of its vital philosophy and its conception of the human race. The teachings of The Little Prince are based on friendship, love, sadness or wealth. Of all of them, these 7 can be applied in your day to day to be better in your work. This phrase mentions the importance of making mistakes to learn and take unexpected paths without fear of risk. Characters : The little Prince, The Aviator, The lamb, The lamplighter, Box, The Rose, Baobabs, The volcanoes, The balloon, The Fox, The king, The avro Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, was a French aviator and writer. Antoine Marie de Saint-Exupéry was born on June 29, 1900 into a wealthy family in Lyon (France). The little boy lived a happy childhood surrounded by the affection of his family. He later moved back to Le Mans to study with the Jesuits in Villefranche and in Switzerland at a Marianist college in Friborg, the city in which he lived for two years between 1915 and 1917. Later he failed the entrance exam for the University and decided to enroll in Architecture at the School of Fine Arts. In 1921 he completed his military service and began to feel trapped by aviation, firmly determining his purpose of being a pilot in the city of Strasbourg. On April 26, 2012, it was made public that the Parisian auction house Artcurial had found two unpublished pages of The Little Prince. The almost illegible texts were discovered among several manuscripts that a collector sent to the house for appraisal. The pages are of the same material used for the original, so experts place them in 1940 or 1941. The first of the two contains variations of chapters 17 and 19. In the second the author introduced an unknown character: the first man that the protagonist finds when he arrives on Earth, who is looking for a six-letter word that means "gargle." The solution to the enigma is not found in the text found. The Little Prince is my favorite book and I like it for the messages it transmits, the way in which he visits the different planets he leaves a message, and the love and loyalty he has for his rose.
