00:00:00 - So, let's begin. Hello there, public. Today we're going to talk about a really good and interesting topic called technologies in education that so-called ICTs. For this topic, we have the university student Raimundo Calvillo. So please, Raimundo, introduce yourself to our beautiful audience.

00:00:22 - Thanks George. And hello everybody. It is a pleasure staying here. Thanks for the invitation is an honor for me. Well, I'm a student from Escuela Normal Superior. I am in the fourth semester and I'm very happy about that. I'm not an expert but I have good information for you guys, so listen up. And also we had on the other hand a female opinion that could not be missing.

00:00:49 - She is Danila Cordero. Please Danila, present yourself.

00:00:53 - Hi, George. Well, as you said, my name is Daniela Cordero, I'm also a student of Escuela

00:01:00 - Normal Superior. Well, actually I'm a classmate of you and Ray, and I'm pretty excited of the topic that we are going to talk about. Having said this, let me present myself.

00:01:13 - My name is Jorge Vidal, I'm a university student too. I'm glad to be here having this conversation with my colleagues Daniela and Raimundo.

00:01:25 - So please tell me Rae, where were we in the use of technologies?

00:01:31 - We were a generation that needed technologies, but we didn't know, in the beginning it was more than enough going to school and listening to the professor teaching, using tools such such as green board, chalk, and sometimes visual help.

00:01:48 - You know, flashcards, photographs, bugs, and newspapers.

00:01:53 - The teachers needed to take information from books or scientific magazines.

00:01:59 - Everything was down by hand.

00:02:02 - In fact, they took the time to review homework and our exams.

00:02:07 - I imagine it was not much fun.

00:02:10 - On the other hand, the students had very different practices from those of today.

00:02:15 - They used to use notebooks, backpacks, calculators, dictionaries, et cetera.

00:02:21 - Well, now that you were talking about the students, we must know that they used to exercise greater responsibility in their duties and rights, allowing a more limited development of knowledge.

00:02:34 - I remember that the students respect and respond to their teachers, campus, classmates, and society.

00:02:43 - I think that in those days, it was considered with more ethical and moral values.

00:02:49 - We can say that the main point was on discovering how the students learned that themselves participate in the construction of their knowledge.

00:03:00 - Well, as you already commented, we came from a society that didn't evaluate the importance of technologies in their life.

00:03:08 - We came from an era with fear of using ICTs, even if they use ICTs to make easier their lives.

00:03:17 - It is kind of like a dumb thing, but also it's a really good point of view to reflect if we, as teachers, are being fair with our students.

00:03:26 - Okay, talking of the past, I would like to know, Danila, where we are, referring about ICTs.

00:03:34 - Well right, I think we are currently facing a situation in which technologies has occupied the first place as communication between students and teachers. And although these measures can save the situation of many students, the majority still don't have access to education during this quarantine. So we can say that this is increasing the social gaps between rich and poor even more. I think now the way in which the teacher obtains respect of the student like those times, it's not longer by having a lot of knowledge and neither is the contribution that the teacher has to make to the student because the teacher objectives right now is not to provide the correct information but to help them to find it, select it, identify reliable sources. But above all, innovate. We find ourselves in a situation where the teacher must be familiar with the new platforms to attract the student's attention. So what do you think about this, George? Right now, one of the things that make me feel proud is that humanity with this pandemic just doesn't give up. We can see students trying to make better homework using the technologies and learning all the academic stuff and also in the other hand we had teachers trying to learn how to use computer or cell phones and they are also innovating using games and new pages like a hoot or light worksheets or something they also are not using academic games like the teacher who teaches math with Minecraft. That is a really good example of innovating in online classes. I could close by saying that this pandemic unimaginably affected us but as my college mentioned even thought it was not easy we put ourselves to work, teachers, students, and parents who were concerned about their learning.

00:05:50 - We hope that from now on they will open courses for teachers who are now technology-friendly, or why not, also students and parents.

00:06:01 - We live in a world where learning to use technology is essential for survival.

00:06:07 - Well, not that we talked about it before and the after, can you tell us George where we are heading?

00:06:18 - Maybe in the future, the teachers are going to continue using the technologies as a tool to improve the classes and in a real classroom with face-to-face classes.

00:06:29 - A lot of teachers are learning strategies, games and pages where they can be free to make their classes, tasks and homework. Obviously, we can say that we are heading to a better era where the students are going to be able to keep in touch with their classmates.

00:06:47 - They are involved and that teachers, we also are involved in to keep education through our students. We know that maybe this is going to be crucial in the future.

00:06:59 - But tell me, what do you think, right?

00:07:01 - I agree with you, George. This opens a door full of the infinity possibilities. I think that maybe the teachers of the future will be able to advise in the evening just in Google

00:07:17 - Meet or maybe another app. I don't know. I can imagine a day when it is dangerous to go out because of weather or something and the students don't miss class or an important exam. Maybe it could be bad for teachers who get insured in because they can continue working from home. Anyway, the possibilities of having an approach with the students and learning are endless and I think we have to take advantage of each one of them. In addition, through technology, a teacher can have a much more assertive class. The real-world examples, games and infinity information. On other hand, students are already born surrounded by technology, which would not be a problem to manipulate them in the right way. They have a great advantage. What do you think, Danila? Will the way of teaching be different? Well, right, I think there is more and more pressure from the teacher as you mentioned the students are familiar with technology from a very young age and this becomes a challenge for the teacher because let's be honest the students prefer to believe a side-wit than even a teacher prepare however I think that no one will be able to supplant a teacher for me the type of teaching will be completely the same I think that with this experience we can take advantage of the fact that the ICTs practically make them more curious, they develop critical and autonomous thinking, they become more skilled things to a process of learning to search the information correctly.

00:09:11 - And I think that above all they will have a better understanding of the things, including the different realities and the world that surrounds them.

00:09:22 - I think that this way of teaching was left pending for a long time and that in the future the learning will not only be teacher and student but also will be the students with the help of technologies and all of this supporting the teacher.

00:09:43 - Well, time's up.

00:09:45 - Good listeners and friends.

00:09:47 - Thanks for listening.

00:09:48 - We are students of Escuela Normal Superior.

remind you that we are not professionals on the subject, but we are teachers in preparation who currently face these changes on the daily basis. Thanks!
