00:01:45 - You know when the audience is quiet while you're playing, that's really great.

00:01:48 - That means they're listening.

00:01:49 - It's like around Canada it is listening.

00:01:51 - You know, there's a few little piggies in the back row, you know, still in here and there once in a while, but I don't know, I don't think about those things.

00:01:58 - Gene Simmons

00:02:00 - I want to tell you a story about, uh, Paul walks in during 79 or so, got a new song.

00:02:09 - And in the beginning, by the way, we traded ideas and kind of co-wrote and stuff, and then we went off on our own. So he walks in, I got a song for you.

00:02:16 - What was it called? I was made for loving you.

00:02:19 - Oh, that's great. What's the first line tonight?

00:02:23 - Oh, that's good. What's the second line?

00:02:25 - I want to give it all to you. Oh yeah, I know what it is. That's cool.

00:02:30 - In the darkness, in the darkness, that rocks.

00:02:34 - Yeah, what? It's something I want to do. That's really cool.

00:02:38 - Steve Harris

00:02:40 - It's funny because I saw that myself and also apparently some of today said that

00:02:44 - Ian Hill said something about it a lot. So I don't know, I suppose the management it's got to get their heads together and they have something like that really but yeah why not both the bands can you know push for it to happen but um yeah I mean we'll see all the rock stars and their stories are on classic rock all-time podcast follow us on Spotify Google podcast and podcast cast don't forget that we are at www.podnation.co

00:03:46 - George Draculias, a staffer at Rick Rubin's Deaf American Label, saw the group playing a show in New York and was so impressed that he not only helped them get their deal with the Deaf American Label, but also stepped in to produce Shake Your Money Maker.

again was released as the debut single by the Black Crows in 1990.

00:05:14 - Niko Barisci-Archwa, the new Argentine guitarist of the band, tells us.

00:05:20 - Playing with Rich prior to joining the Crows.

00:05:25 - So you had a little bit of relationship there, right?

00:05:28 - Yes.

00:05:29 - And then style-wise, you were pretty much in the vein of what the music is with the black crows right now.

00:05:36 - So how did that all come about that you got to play with Rich and then, you know, getting in, what was the transition like?

00:05:42 - Well, I mean, I was always a huge fan, black crows fan, like I told you before.

00:05:48 - I remember like 10 years ago,

00:05:50 - I went to the state, well, I came to the states and stayed here for a couple months in New York.

00:05:56 - I was watching and I went to a couple black rose shows and I was telling my girlfriend back then like I'm one day I'm gonna be there playing with them and she was like okay okay yeah but I was like I was very focused on that I knew that I was going to be like like musically and just because of the chorus I knew that we were going to be like very good friends I don't know

00:06:25 - I had that feeling, you know, this is a random. Yeah, it was just a random concert that you went to you

00:06:31 - Yes, I did nothing you just went pay to take it went. Yeah

00:06:34 - I mean I because I love the black cross. So I want to see them many times and and then like a

00:06:41 - Couple months later. I posted something. I mean rich was doing a question-and-answer on Facebook because he was racing one of his albums and and I remember posting in one of the comments like a

00:06:54 - A link to a YouTube video that I was playing one of his songs with a dog bro. Just by myself in open tuning. Yes. Yes, and

00:07:02 - Eight months later he sent me a Twitter message saying they may not like you're playing and

00:07:08 - That's how we connected and then I auditioned for him

00:07:12 - And with two acoustics like this just like I got to two acoustics in New York

00:07:16 - And I ended up playing with him for two years. Wow

00:07:20 - Wow, so the audition is just you and Rich on a couch.

00:07:24 - Yes, on a couch, yes.

00:07:26 - What did you guys play?

00:07:27 - I went, I remember I went with like 40 songs of his solo stuff that I learned.

00:07:33 - And he was like, okay, just do you know this other song that wasn't on the list?

00:07:39 - So he wanted to see me just playing off the cuffs, you know?

00:07:44 - Yeah, did you say 40 songs?

00:07:46 - Yeah, yeah, and then for the tour had to learn like 140 140 yes in two months in two months that was my second question how long does it take to learn that many songs yeah especially at the drop of a hat because but you know most of the songs I you I have them in my head you already knew I had in my head and so it was just like getting there you know I have a good memory I'm gonna give me that yeah and that is important and well and you knew and if you were current you know if you were on the regular listening to these songs and you were a fan then yeah they're in your head because I guess sometimes when you don't even know the song if you know the song you can kind of put the pieces together of course and what I did those two months was just listen to those songs you know I was like I made a playlist for my car and I was driving all the time listening to those songs and just thinking oh he's going to the bridge after this part of whatever, you know? And, and, you know, it was the, the opportunity that I was wanted, you know, I always streamed without opportunity. So I wasn't going to blue that off.

00:08:56 - No, take it seriously.

00:08:58 - See, yeah, and all the work that you put into playing previously and everything that led up to it. Yeah, it makes sense, right? It's not like, it's not like a chance that just happened. It's like, it makes total sense that it happened.

00:09:10 - And everything happened at the same time, you know, playing for change like we were talking and that thing with the running stone and and then reach writing me that message so I was like this this is the moment that

00:09:23 - I have the momentum is building yeah and things are so I have to be really like serious about it and professional yeah and just like I mean all the work that

00:09:33 - I've done now it's paying so I have to work harder yeah to you know to be absolutely now leading up to the crows how's the audition for the crows now because now you've already played with rich yes so you haven't established a real relationship here now how does it transition into the crows when the crows who got back together they they were using on your people and but I got to met Chris that I haven't met him before right and we really got along afterwards they were looking for a top player because the guy who was playing he wanted to focus on his band so I really knew them so I had that on my side you know and they knew that I was cool you know and because if you have to tour with someone you it's like a marriage you I mean you wake up with them and you go to sleep with them very very important that the relationship and the vibe and the hang it has to be cool so I had that on my side but it was like a this was like an audition like a normal audition with the whole band playing in a room you know they sent me a couple songs to learn and I really knew them of course and this was just like yeah man okay they're all in the room you walk in obviously Rich is like hey everyone this is Nico this is that and then you just guys kick it to some jams and it's like full band experience do you remember and I asked you I think it was like was it like remedy and was like hard to handle no it was like deep cuts I remember the first song we play was sting me yeah then we went over gone some salvation and there was a couple more but it was it felt great you know and it's just like like

00:11:26 - Rich didn't he didn't need to introduce me to the band because I mean I knew everyone sure increase so I mean as a matter of fact we went afterwards we went to a bar to have you know yeah natural it was natural and I always knew you know like I like I told my girlfriend back ten years ago you know I was going I knew that I was going to play with them

00:12:01 - I'll tell you what goes on, get rid of it

00:12:11 - I'll tell you what goes on, get rid of it

00:12:21 - Feelin' dirty laundry Sittin' sickness on down the line

00:12:28 - Tell you what, cause I'm jealous Jealous of you

00:12:34 - All the time I let you in Yeah, I'm jealous

00:12:40 - Jealous of you Got no time, baby

00:12:46 - I was drunk all Sunday, trying to feel like I'm at home

00:12:54 - Smell the gasoline burning, boys are feeling nervous and cold

00:13:01 - Oh yeah, I'm jealous, jealous again

00:13:07 - Falling time, I lift you up
